Free concert Mother's Day weekend! The Evangel University Sinfonia will appear in concert here at Grace at 7PM on Friday, May 11th. The Sinfonia is on a nine-day tour, during which it will perform eight concerts in Tennessee, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, and Ohio. The repertoire of the Sinfonia includes classical, sacred and contemporary Christian arrangements for orchestra, as well as various arrangements for voices with orchestral accompaniment. Invite a friend and join us for a special night of music with Evangel University! ______ Over the past 23 years, the Sinfonia has toured extensively throughout the 48 contiguous United States and Canada. The orchestra has also traveled to Europe on five different occasions most recently in May 2016 when it performed 15 concerts in Italy, Austria, Germany, and Switzerland. In addition, the group has recorded 11 compact discs. The orchestra appeared in 2001 and 2007 on the Canadian television program “100 Huntley Street,” which has an estimated 15.4 million viewers. Dr. Larry Dissmore, director of the Sinfonia, has served on the Evangel University faculty since 1988. An accomplished conductor and violinist, Dissmore holds degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, Wichita State University and from the Conservatory of Music and Dance at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. The Department of Music at Evangel University offers majors in music education, music performance, recording technology and worship leadership. The department is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music. Evangel University, with the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary (AGTS), is a comprehensive Christian university committed to excellence in educating and equipping students to serve the church and society globally. Evangel and AGTS serve more than 2,100 students from all 50 states and numerous foreign countries, offering 65 undergraduate majors and 18 master’s and doctoral degrees.
